Sanwo-Olu Celebrates Blue Line’s Second Anniversary Slashes Fares by 50%

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday marked the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line by celebrating its success and announcing a significant reduction in fares.

Since its launch in 2023 the Blue Line has transported over five million passengers safely operating without a single accident.

Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the benefits of the rail system noting that trains now run every 10 minutes with over 90 trips daily, making commutes faster and more convenient for Lagosians.

“This project belongs to all of us, and it is your belief in a greater Lagos that makes progress possible,” he said.

To commemorate the milestone, the governor announced a 50 percent fare reduction effective Thursday, September 4, 2025, encouraging more residents to take advantage of the efficient transit option.

The Blue Line forms a critical part of Lagos State’s efforts to expand mass transit, reduce traffic congestion and improve urban mobility.
