SDP Chairman Gabam Asserts Commitment to Unseat Tinubu and the APC in 2027 Election
The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Gabam, has conveyed a strong message to President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that anyone is capable of losing the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
He argues that electoral outcomes hinge not merely on individual talents or strategies, but on the overall political landscape.Gabam made this statement during an interview on Channels Television, where he noted a significant influx of political figures joining the SDP from various parts of Nigeria.
He highlighted a recent addition to the party: former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s shift from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the SDP.He explained, “Every day, we welcome new members into the SDP from all states of the federation.
Just today, I received dignitaries in my office. If you look online, you’ll find over 300 resignation letters from VIPs, including former Senators and Ministers, who are joining our ranks.”
The SDP chairman expressed his party’s ambitions to claim the Presidential Villa in 2027, stating, “As the leader of a political party, my goal is to unseat the current government, while the APC aims to maintain their hold on power, and the PDP seeks to reclaim it.”
Gabam expressed confidence in the SDP’s prospects for success, citing government inaction toward the concerns of the Nigerian populace as a reason for potential electoral defeat for the ruling party. “Loss can happen to anyone; it’s not solely about who is the most brilliant or strategic,” he added.
“If there was true competence in governance, we wouldn’t see the mistakes that are being made.”He further asserted that Nigeria possesses a wealth of untapped talent capable of delivering effective leadership, stating that no single individual holds a monopoly on quality leadership.
