Senior Aide to Kano Governor Dies After Brutal Machete Attack

Malam Sadiq Gentle, a Senior Special Reporter to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has died following a brutal machete attack at his home. He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano.

In response to the incident, Governor Yusuf has ordered security agencies to launch an immediate manhunt for the perpetrators. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Gentle as a committed public servant and respected media professional.

In a statement released through his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor condemned the killing as “heinous, barbaric, and utterly unacceptable.” He praised Gentle’s integrity, dedication, and peaceful nature, noting that his violent death is a painful loss to the government and media community in the state.

Governor Yusuf extended his condolences to Gentle’s family, friends, and colleagues, assuring them that the government is committed to bringing the attackers to justice and ensuring their safety during this difficult time.
