Nigerian singer and songwriter, Seyi Shay, has finally broken her silence on why she is not married to the father of her daughter, despite maintaining a close and healthy relationship with him.

During an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the award-winning artiste described her decision as both personal and technical, explaining that marriage was not a current priority for her or her child’s father.

Speaking further, the “Right Now” crooner described her child’s father as “a great guy, cool and supportive,” noting that he is a Nigerian working in the UK music industry on the corporate side. She added that their strong friendship and shared parenting values have helped them maintain peace and stability without the need for marriage.

Since becoming a mother in 2022, Seyi Shay said motherhood has completely transformed her outlook on life, relationships, and career. She emphasized that her new role has made her more intentional about her decisions, pushing her to prioritize growth, love, and purpose over societal expectations.
