‘She Can’t Walk Again’ — Mother Breaks Down After Teacher Flogs Toddler at Enugu School

A Nigerian mother has sparked outrage and deep emotion online after sharing a heartbreaking video of her 3-year-old daughter covered in bruises allegedly caused by a teacher at Emem Nursery and Primary School in Abakpa Nike, Enugu State.

In the viral clip, the little girl’s legs are visibly swollen and marked with red bruises, leaving her struggling to walk. The distressed mother, in tears, narrated how she received a call from the school informing her that her daughter could no longer stand properly after being flogged by a teacher.

She said she rushed to the school immediately and was horrified to find her child in severe pain. In the video, the mother cried uncontrollably, vowing to ensure the teacher responsible faced justice and paid for her daughter’s medical treatment.

The video quickly gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), with Nigerians expressing anger and disbelief over the inhumane treatment of a toddler.

A user named Chi wrote: “If you do this to my child, I won’t have time to record anything. If videos ever make it online, just know others posted them after the fight between us.”

Another user, Covenant, commented: “It’s obvious some people were not raised with love. How dare you flog a 3-year-old child until she’s bruised?”

Sheuuuuuuu added: “This isn’t discipline — it’s outright cruelty. There’s a big difference between correction and abuse.”

Many social media users demanded immediate action from authorities, urging the Enugu State Ministry of Education and child protection agencies to investigate the case and hold the teacher accountable.

Parents also used the moment to call for a ban on corporal punishment in schools, stressing that such acts can cause lasting emotional and physical harm to children.

As of the time of this report, the school management has not issued an official statement regarding the disturbing incident. Meanwhile, Nigerians continue to demand justice for the little girl and her heartbroken mother.
