Shehu Sani: Nigerians Must Leave the US After Trump Administration Revokes Visas

Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has warned Nigerians affected by recent visa revocations in the United States to return home immediately to avoid possible arrest.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sani urged Nigerians and other African nationals whose visas were recently canceled under the administration of US President Donald Trump to leave the country promptly, cautioning that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could detain them.

“Nigerians and other thousands of Africans whose visas were recently revoked by President Trump should hasten and leave the country and return home before they get arrested by ICE…No matter how long you live in the comfort of your adopted home, you will someday be reminded that it’s not your father’s house,” he wrote.

Sani’s warning highlights the vulnerability of migrants in foreign countries and serves as a reminder that life abroad is temporary, no matter how comfortable it may appear.

The alert comes amid stricter US immigration policies, including mass visa revocations and reviews of residency permits, which have caused anxiety among African immigrants uncertain about their legal status in the country.
