Shock as Man Uses Giant Python as House Guard, Sparks Safety Concerns Online
A young Nigerian man has gone viral on social media after revealing that he uses a massive python as a form of home security.
In a trending video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man explained that he strategically placed the snake at his entrance door to ward off potential intruders.
At the start of the clip, he said: “Just in case you feel like opening the door to the entrance of my apartment, let me show you something.”
He then moved closer to the door, and to the shock of viewers, a huge python was seen lying quietly in one corner near the entrance.
The man didn’t stop there. He went on to display the reptile’s cage, showing how he regularly cleans it. In the footage, he was seen removing the snake’s waste, changing the sand, and rearranging the space to make it comfortable.
The unusual practice has sparked heated debates online, with many questioning the safety and wisdom of keeping such a dangerous animal as a pet.
One user, Valyb, joked: “Pet keee, if that python dies all eim investment go crumble 🤣.”
Another user, Ihunanya, strongly criticised the act, writing: “Nigeria is not like Europe, where you can easily access proper medication or emergency care. Keeping such a pet in Nigeria is useless, unless there’s another reason he isn’t willing to share. Snake is a wild creature and shouldn’t be kept as pets.”
While some found the video amusing, others expressed genuine fear, warning that the python could one day turn against its owner or endanger neighbours.
The video continues to trend, with mixed reactions ranging from amusement to alarm about the potential risks involved.
