Shock in Katsina as Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing Husband Three Days After Wedding
Police in Katsina State have arrested a woman, Zainab Muhammad, for allegedly killing her husband just three days after their wedding in the Jibia Local Government Area.
The spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, November 25. According to him, the couple had barely settled into married life when the tragic incident occurred.
The victim, identified as Abdullahi, was reportedly found in a pool of blood inside his home in the Tashar Buja community. Neighbours immediately raised the alarm, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Aliyu disclosed that on November 23, at about 1:30 p.m., a distress call was received at the Jibia Division reporting that the newly wedded groom had been discovered motionless with a deep cut to his neck. Detectives were deployed to the scene and confirmed the severity of the attack before transferring the victim to the hospital.
The police have named Muhammad, the deceased’s wife, as the prime suspect. Preliminary investigations suggest she allegedly stabbed her husband while he was asleep before fleeing the residence. Neighbours later discovered the lifeless body and alerted authorities.
A family member revealed that the marriage had reportedly been forced, even though the couple maintained a friendly relationship prior to the wedding.
