Shock in Niger as Man Dies After Collapsing at Government House Lodge

A man identified as Gregory has died after collapsing during a visit to the Niger State Government House Lodge in Minna. The tragic incident occurred on Friday, August 2, 2025, at House No. 8 within the premises of the Government House.

According to reports, Gregory had gone to meet with Sammy Adigun, Chairman of the Niger Food Security Systems and Logistics Company Limited, but became suddenly unwell after realizing that his host was not available.

Medical personnel from the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, were immediately contacted to render emergency care. Unfortunately, Gregory was confirmed dead by the time help arrived.

Speaking on the incident, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the death in a statement issued Monday.

“On August 2, 2025, around 9:30 p.m., we received a report of a suspected sudden death from the CSO of Government House, Minna.

A guest identified as Gregory became unconscious in one of the lodges. Police operatives from GRA Division responded, and the man was rushed to IBB Specialist Hospital where he was later confirmed dead,” Abiodun stated.

The police spokesperson added that Gregory’s body has been deposited at the hospital morgue, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The sudden incident has left staff and officials at the Government House in shock, with security around the premises temporarily heightened.
