Short-let Apartment Owner Cries Out After Guest Leaves Property in Ruins

A Nigerian short-let apartment operator has expressed frustration after a customer allegedly trashed his property, leaving behind extensive damage and filth.

A viral video shared on social media by @Moradapartments showed the aftermath of the guest’s stay, with the once well-kept apartment left in a deplorable state.

According to the clip, the renter burned holes in the living room chairs, dented the center table, and left the kitchen in a complete mess. Other sections of the house were also visibly damaged.

Sharing the video, the owners wrote:
“This is how our client left the short-let apartment after their stay.”

The footage immediately stirred outrage online, with many questioning why the guests were allowed to leave without a proper inspection of the property.

One user, @effedeborah, commented:
“You people don’t tell your customers to wait so you can check the apartment before they leave? Nawa o.”

Another, @iam_ddr, joked:
“Na fire benders you give apartment?”

Others highlighted the need for legal measures in the business. @iam_fa.y.te advised:
“Business owners should learn how to get a lawyer. It is very important‼️”

Some sympathized, sharing their own experiences. A user, @cupcakee09, recounted:
“I managed a short-let apartment in London, I nearly died. Someone pulled the entire wall mirror, broke the kitchen stove and microwave. I nearly had a heart attack. I can never do this business again. Onto £300 caution fee, gas was £280 to replace.”

The incident has reignited conversations about how Nigerian short-let operators can better protect their properties, with many suggesting stricter rules, security deposits, and thorough checks before clients check out.
