Sommie’s Father Rejects Jump Theory, Insists Daughter Was Murdered During Abuja Robbery
Engr. Ifeanyi Maduagwu, father of the late Arise TV reporter Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, has cast doubt on reports suggesting his daughter jumped from a storey building during an armed robbery attack at her residence in Abuja.
Speaking to BBC Igbo, he insisted that his daughter would never have taken such an action and strongly believes she was murdered.
The incident occurred in September at Sommie’s home in the Katampe area of Abuja. Initial reports indicated that she fell from a storey building while allegedly trying to escape armed robbers.
However, Engr. Maduagwu rejected this version, emphasizing that his daughter, known for her calm and composed nature, would not have jumped just because of a robbery.
Recalling the moment he received the tragic news, Engr. Maduagwu revealed that he was offshore when a friend contacted him, informing him that Sommie had been injured.
Shortly afterward, his son in Budapest called, prompting him to learn the full details, leaving the family devastated.
“I know my daughter, Sommie, could never jump from a storey building simply because she saw armed robbers. I strongly believe my daughter was murdered,” he said, expressing deep sorrow and frustration over the circumstances of her death.
The father’s statement has reignited discussions about the events leading to Sommie’s death and raised questions about possible foul play.
As investigations continue, the family is calling for justice and a thorough inquiry to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
