Sowore Labels Tinubu’s Administration Worse Than Buhari’s, Citing Economic Collapse and Insecurity

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has condemned President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a “bigger disaster” than the previous Buhari government, which he called a “catastrophe.” Speaking via Facebook on July 16, 2025, Sowore raised alarm over worsening economic conditions, rampant insecurity, governance failures, and incompetence just over a year into Tinubu’s presidency.

Sowore criticized the administration’s harsh economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and naira floatation, which he said have caused soaring inflation, widespread poverty, and hardship for ordinary Nigerians. He highlighted the sharp increase in food and transport costs, a collapsing currency, and rising corruption under Tinubu’s government.

The activist accused the president of being detached from Nigerians’ realities and of rewarding political cronies rather than installing competent leaders in his cabinet, calling the current leadership “an elite settlement scheme” that perpetuates past failures. Sowore also pointed to ongoing security challenges, such as banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency, which have persisted despite promises of reform.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, Sowore is positioning himself and his party, the African Action Congress (AAC), as radical alternatives to Nigeria’s entrenched political class. He urged Nigerians to demand real change, warning that without decisive action, the country’s suffering will deepen.

This latest critique continues Sowore’s consistent opposition to both Buhari’s and Tinubu’s administrations, highlighting the growing discontent over governance and economic management in Nigeria.
