Sowore: Nnamdi Kanu Becomes ‘Celebrity’ in Sokoto Prison, Justice Omotosho Will Eventually Apologize

Activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has revealed that the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has become a “celebrity” inside the Sokoto Custodial Centre, shedding light on his current life behind bars.

Speaking with journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, Sowore stated that the Federal Government would soon realize it made a grave mistake by sentencing Kanu to life imprisonment.

He predicted that the presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, would ultimately have to apologize to Kanu for what he described as a miscarriage of justice.

“Nnamdi Kanu is already a celebrity in prison. They said he has become the president of the prison, though I doubt it, it must have been conferred on him out of respect,” Sowore said.

Sowore emphasized that Kanu’s imprisonment has only amplified his influence, noting that those who intended to ridicule him were instead impressed by his presence in Sokoto.

“When they were taking him to Sokoto, they thought they would humiliate him. But he turned Sokoto into another Mecca,” he added.

Kanu has been in detention for several years over charges related to his agitation for the independent state of Biafra, a case that continues to generate significant public debate.

Sowore warned that the government’s decision would soon be recognized as a fundamental error, comparing the anticipated apology to the public intervention that once saved Fela Kuti.
