SSANU South East Vice President Speaks Out on Federal Government’s Unfair Treatment

The National Vice President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) South East Zone, Engr Comrade Okechukwu Animaba, has expressed disappointment with the Federal Government’s unfair treatment of the association. In an interview with Esut Monitor newspaper, Comrade Engr Okey Animba stated that the Federal Government has been unfair and insensitive to the plight of Nigerian workers.
“An injury to one is an injury to all. We have been injured, and the Federal Government should go back to the drawing board and do the needful,” Comrade Engr Animba said.
He emphasized that SSANU South East is moving with the agenda of its National President,Comrade Muhammed Haruna Ibrahim ( Fnipr) Fnli, Fciml, (Manupa)to protect the welfare of its members. “By the special grace of God, I want to say that SSANU South East is great and coordinated. We have been able to bring up the stage of dignity in Nigeria. What we are doing is to protect the welfare of our members, which is the most paramount.”
Comrade Animba noted that any union that doesn’t protect the welfare of its members is not worth belonging to. “I want to tell you that the welfare of SSANU members in the South East is protected. Not just SSANU also NASU is doing its best under the joint action committee.”
The association has held protests and press briefings across Nigeria, and Animba urged the Federal Government to take immediate action. “If our welfare is taken care of, you will see positive change in our universities. But I want to tell you that my members are suffering, my members are suffering, and we are not happy. He urged the federal government to do something on time so that things will get better. A stitch in time saves nine.”
