Statement Credited To Ugwuanyi About Enugu Youths Is False
According to one of the persons present at the meeting, the visit by Dr. Ejikeme Odumegwu to the former governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has unfortunately been misrepresented.
The source, who chooses not to be named, told our correspondent that he is deeply saddened that Dr. Odumegwu could be so mischievous in misrepresenting the harmless, innocent disposition of the former governor.
“I feel embarrassed to be involved in such a visit, and it’s disheartening that Dr. Odumegwu would choose to politicize it,” he said.
“To put it in proper perspective, Odumegwu went cap in hand to seek Ugwuanyi’s help in his political ambition, pleading for his support.”
“We didn’t go there representing a youth body or movement, so what would warrant the advice Odumegwu reportedly gave to the media?” he asked.
Speaking further, he noted that none of them in the contingent knew that pressmen were with them, as such wasn’t mentioned to them, and they didn’t even see any need for that, adding that “this is, to say the least, an abuse of privilege and a treacherous act by Odumegwu to promote his political ambition.”
He called on the general public to disregard the report as the handiwork of a political desperado who wants to use any opportunity to advance his political ambition.
Efforts to reach Odumegwu for clarification on his claim haven’t yielded any result as of the time of this report.
