“Stop Taking Unnecessary Risks” — Deji Adeyanju Cautions VeryDarkMan

Prominent human rights lawyer and activist, Comrade Deji Adeyanju, has publicly advised popular social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), to exercise more caution in his actions and online engagements.

In a statement posted via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Adeyanju who also serves as VDM’s legal counsel voiced growing concern over his client’s tendency to take what he called “unnecessary risks,” particularly given the volatile nature of social media activism in Nigeria.

“I regularly call VDM to warn him to be careful and stop exposing himself to danger, but he doesn’t always listen,” Adeyanju wrote. “People’s support is fleeting. If anything happens to you, they’ll move on like nothing happened. Nigerians don’t rate anyone as much as we think.”

Adeyanju’s remarks reflect his ongoing worry about VDM’s safety amid his rising profile and frequent online controversies. VDM has become known for his bold and often polarizing commentary on societal issues a trait that has earned him both widespread praise and heavy criticism.

The warning serves as a reminder of the risks associated with high-profile activism, especially in a space where public support can be unpredictable and short-lived.
