Suspected Drug Dealer Nabbed in Bauchi; 17,500 Tramadol Sachets Recovered

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Ogbu Simon, and recovered a significant cache of narcotics, including 17,500 sachets of Tramadol and 487 packs of Diazepam (D5), locally known as Yellow Voice.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that the suspect was apprehended following credible intelligence received from a concerned citizen on November 26, 2025. Investigators traced suspicious sacks of drugs being offloaded at Simon’s shop in Ningi town, prompting a targeted raid by operatives of the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters.

Wakil explained that Simon allegedly supplied narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi Local Government Area and surrounding communities. “Under the leadership of CSP Abdulrazak Fada, the suspect was arrested and admitted to distributing drugs to multiple markets within and outside Ningi,” he said.

The seized items, valued at approximately N12.2 million, include four sacks containing Tramadol and Diazepam tablets. The police have intensified investigations through the Operation Restore Peace unit and have handed the case, along with the recovered exhibits, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bauchi State Command for further action.

Commissioner of Police Sani Omolori Aliyu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes and urged residents to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and safety in the state. The case will also be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigations.
