Suspended Mudryk Takes on Surprise Role as Chelsea’s Unofficial Fitness Coach
Suspended Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has reportedly taken on an unexpected role at the club’s Cobham training ground acting as an unofficial fitness coach for several teammates.
Mudryk, who has been out of action since December 2024 following a failed drug test, was officially charged on June 18, 2025, with violating anti-doping regulations after traces of meldonium were found in his system.
The 24-year-old Ukrainian international is currently facing a possible four-year ban from professional football.
Despite being barred from participating in official club training sessions, sources close to the club revealed that Mudryk has remained active around the training facility and has taken it upon himself to support the fitness regimens of several Chelsea players.
According to Tribune, Mudryk has been privately working with Romeo Lavia, Marc Cucurella, and promising summer signing Jamie Gittens.
The winger is said to be offering personalized training routines and guidance to help them maintain peak physical condition during the pre-season. Rising Brazilian prospect Estevão Willian is also reportedly considering joining the informal sessions.
While some fans have praised Mudryk for maintaining a positive attitude and trying to stay involved despite his suspension, others have raised eyebrows over his increased influence off the pitch. Online banter has also surfaced, with some supporters jokingly urging him to “keep the supplements to himself.”
Mudryk’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain as the doping case develops, but his proactive stance during suspension has earned him mixed reactions across the football community.
