Tadej Pogacar Wins Stage 4 of Tour de France, Achieves 100th Career Victory and Ties for Yellow Jersey

Slovenian cycling superstar Tadej Pogacar secured a thrilling victory on Stage 4 of the 2025 Tour de France, crossing the finish line in Rouen ahead of rivals Mathieu van der Poel and Jonas Vingegaard.

This win not only marked Pogacar’s 100th professional career victory but also moved him level on time with van der Poel atop the general classification standings.

The 174.2-kilometer stage from Amiens Métropole to Rouen featured five challenging climbs in the final 50 kilometers, culminating in an uphill finish that tested the riders’ endurance and sprinting prowess. Pogacar launched a decisive attack on the steep slopes near the finish, outpacing van der Poel in a dramatic sprint to claim his 18th Tour de France stage win and first stage victory of this year’s race.

Benefiting from a strong lead-out by teammate João Almeida, Pogacar’s acceleration on the final incline proved unstoppable, reversing the result of their earlier encounter on Stage 2. Van der Poel, who retained the yellow jersey due to countback, expressed disappointment but remains a formidable contender as the race progresses.

Jonas Vingegaard finished third, closing the gap on Pogacar and adding further intrigue to the battle for the coveted yellow jersey. With both Pogacar and van der Poel tied on time, the competition is set to intensify in the upcoming stages, including a pivotal time trial in Caen.

Pogacar, the reigning world champion and three-time Tour de France winner, celebrated the milestone victory with his UAE Team Emirates-XRG teammates, underscoring his status as one of cycling’s all-time greats at just 26 years old.

The Tour de France continues with Stage 5, a crucial time trial in Caen, where the battle for the overall lead promises to deliver more excitement.
