Terror Strikes Niger State: Students Abducted from Catholic Secondary School

Panic has gripped the Papiri community in Niger State following a daring attack on St. Mary’s Private (Catholic) Secondary School in the early hours of Friday, November 21.

Armed assailants stormed the school between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., abducting an unconfirmed number of students.

The attack was confirmed by Mohammed Inuwa, senior legislative aide to Rt. Hon. Jafar Muhammad Ali, who represents Borgu/Agwara Federal Constituency.

Inuwa revealed that local authorities and the police have been alerted, but precise details on the number of students taken or the progress of rescue efforts remain unclear.

This incident comes just days after 25 schoolgirls were abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga town, Kebbi State, highlighting the increasing vulnerability of schools across Northern Nigeria to terrorist attacks.

Community leaders and residents have expressed shock and fear, calling for urgent government action to safeguard schools and protect students.

Security agencies are reportedly investigating the attack and coordinating response efforts to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.

The latest abduction underscores the critical need for stronger security measures and proactive protection of educational institutions in Nigeria’s northern regions.
