The PDP faction in Kogi East alleges that Danjuma Lah is trying to take control of the state structure on behalf of Dino Melaye.

The political environment in Kogi State is becoming increasingly charged, with stakeholders from both Kogi East and Kogi West voicing strong opposition to the current caretaker chairman, Senator Danjuma Lah, and his secretary, Senator Philip Aruwa Gyunka.

They are objecting to the duo’s efforts to enforce their favored candidates in the party in preparation for the upcoming state congress.

Members of the Kogi PDP Elders Forum, including party elders representing nine local government areas from Kogi East and Kogi West, are vehemently pushing back against the moves made by Senator Lah and Senator Gyunka to assert control of the party structure in favor of former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, and his associates.

These stakeholders have accused the aforementioned group of individuals of devising strategies to hinder the involvement of Kogi East in party affairs, utilizing the party machinery for their personal political motives as demonstrated in the previous gubernatorial polls.

The elders within the party have issued a stern warning that they will vehemently oppose any endeavors to forcefully impose candidates on the party and have called upon the national headquarters to promptly facilitate the removal of Lah and Gyunka from their positions due to their failure to deliver effective leadership and address the irregularities present within the state party framework.

The elders said:

“We will not be provoked to leave the party, but we will resist and reject their plots.

“We call on the national headquarters to quickly hurry up the exit of Danjuma Lah and his secretary from the state as they have failed woefully.

“PDP leadership under their watch is a colossal failure and unable to even issue a statement to condemn the abnormality in the state.”
