“They Hate Me, But I’m Still President” — Tinubu Speaks Amid Outrage Over Benue Killings
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed mounting criticism during a recent visit to Benue State, following the tragic killings of over 200 residents in a series of violent attacks allegedly carried out by Fulani herdsmen.
Upon arrival, Tinubu was received by local students who lined the streets in formation and sang the national anthem. His visit came amid nationwide outrage and demonstrations, with angry protesters calling out the federal government’s perceived inaction on rural insecurity.
During a special reception held in his honor, Tinubu directly addressed public backlash, stating:
“Not everybody will like you in politics. They hate me like hell, but I am here I am the President.”
The remark has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions online. While some Nigerians expressed support, many condemned the president’s comments as tone-deaf, particularly in light of the loss of lives in Benue.
Calls for accountability and decisive security reforms have intensified, with critics urging Tinubu’s administration to prioritize protecting citizens and restoring peace in volatile regions.
