Tinubu Urged to Focus on Current Term Amid 2027 Election Speculations

Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned party members to refrain from distracting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with 2027 presidential ambitions. Mumuni’s warning comes after some APC chieftains, including Chief Bisi Akande and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Mumuni deemed the statement ill-timed, emphasizing that the focus should remain on addressing the country’s current economic challenges and providing solutions to Nigerians’ pressing needs.

He noted that the hardship faced by many Nigerians is a direct consequence of past policies and dishonest leadership.

President Tinubu has also stated that he is not thinking about the 2027 elections, instead prioritizing restructuring the economy for the benefit of Nigerians. Mumuni’s advice aligns with Tinubu’s stance, urging political actors to allow the president to implement necessary reforms and policies without unnecessary distractions.

The APC chieftain stressed the importance of rallying around Tinubu and supporting his efforts to navigate the country’s turbulent times, rather than diverting attention to future political contests.
