Tiwa Savage Breaks Silence on Seyi Shay Feud, Refutes Claims of Sabotaging Fellow Singers

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has finally spoken about her long-standing feud with fellow artiste Seyi Shay, revealing what truly caused the tension that once dominated headlines in the Afrobeats scene.

During an appearance on Off Air with Gbemi O and Toolz, Tiwa addressed the controversy surrounding their 2021 salon altercation, explaining that the fallout stemmed from a diss track and false rumours suggesting she was sabotaging other female artistes.

The “Somebody’s Son” crooner firmly denied ever blocking anyone’s career opportunities, stressing that she has always supported women in the music industry. “I heard they thought I blocked their bag. How? If you’ve heard from anybody that I tried to block your bag, mention the person so I can address it,” she said.

Tiwa also revealed that she once lost a major endorsement deal to Seyi Shay after giving birth to her son, Jamil. “I was taken off the Pepsi campaign when I had my baby, and Shay was booked for it. So how am I stopping anyone’s bag?” she added.

Their rift reached its peak in 2021 after a viral video captured both singers engaging in a heated argument at a Lagos salon, an incident that sparked widespread debate among fans. While Seyi Shay later claimed she tried to reconcile, Tiwa’s latest comments suggest the feud was worsened by gossip and misinformation.

Despite the past tension, fans continue to hope for peace between the two Afrobeats queens, whose music has shaped the modern Nigerian pop scene.
