Tiwa Savage Opens Up About Viral ‘Second Wife’ Statement

Popular Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has responded to the controversy surrounding her recent comment about potentially being a second wife.

The award-winning Afrobeat star emphasized that her statement reflected emotional vulnerability, not an actual interest in polygamy.

Reflecting on her past experiences, Tiwa shared, “I was a first wife, where did that get me? I got married as the only wife, but here we are. I’m tired of being heartbroken; maybe I’m getting it wrong. Maybe I should try being a second wife.”

The 45-year-old singer clarified that she does not intend to pursue polygamy, explaining that her remarks were influenced by personal heartbreak and the challenges she has faced in relationships.

Speaking on the American podcast Lip Service, Tiwa admitted that while some of her admirers are older or already married, her comment was not meant to signal a change in her personal choices.

She stressed, “It’s not my choice, though. I don’t want to. I wish I could tell my truth, but I will be dragged.”

The statement sparked extensive discussion online, with fans and critics weighing in on social media about her candid views on love, marriage, and respect in relationships.
