Air Vice Marshal Shehu Adamu Fura (retd.), Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee in Gombe State, has resigned from the party and officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated July 3, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Pantami Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.

Fura, a retired senior military officer and a former governorship aspirant who came third in the PDP’s 2023 primaries, has been a prominent figure in Gombe’s political landscape. His defection is expected to significantly impact party dynamics in the state.

In his letter, Fura cited deep personal reflection and extensive consultations as the basis for his decision, expressing a desire to continue his political journey under the ADC platform, where he believes he can better contribute to democratic values and good governance.

He expressed appreciation for his time in the PDP, describing it as a period of valuable experience and political growth. He also acknowledged the support received from party members, especially those from his ward, during his tenure as Reconciliation Committee Chairman.

Fura concluded his letter by wishing the PDP continued success and progress.
