Tragedy in Ondo: Police Officer’s Son Kills Brother During Heated Argument

A wave of shock and grief has swept through the Onigbara River community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State following the tragic death of a young man, Emmanuel, allegedly killed by his own brother, Daniel, during a heated altercation on Monday evening.

Both brothers are sons of a respected local police officer popularly known in the area as “Awilo.”

Eyewitness accounts suggest the disagreement between the siblings escalated rapidly, culminating in Daniel allegedly launching a fatal attack on Emmanuel. While the exact cause of the quarrel remains unclear, community members described the event as sudden and deeply unsettling.

“We still don’t understand what exactly happened between them. It’s shocking that a quarrel could end like this,” a resident told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the condition of anonymity.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ondo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for a comprehensive probe.

In a related incident, the Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman, Augustina Mowari, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death during a confrontation over suspected infidelity. The incident occurred on Sunday in Okitipupa, the administrative center of Okitipupa LGA.

According to DSP Ayanlade, the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the crime and remains in detention while investigations continue.

“These are deeply disturbing cases,” Ayanlade said, assuring the public that justice will be served in both matters.
