Ubi Franklin Defends President Tinubu, Says Online Criticism Won’t Affect 2027 Election Outcome
Nigerian music executive and media personality, Ubi Franklin, has sparked heated reactions online following his bold defence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Franklin, who recently visited the president, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express confidence in Tinubu’s position, stating that despite mounting criticism, opposition voices won’t unseat him in 2027.
“There are many things President Tinubu is getting right,” Ubi wrote. “This new coalition people are praising won’t change anything. Let’s focus on state governors who have access to resources but are underperforming.”
His post quickly went viral, drawing both support and backlash. A critic, Afam Deluxo, referenced Ubi’s personal controversies, saying, “With the number of people you allegedly owe and kids you have all over, I wouldn’t flinch if you defended Satan himself.”
Ubi clapped back: “My kids are the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve had bad business runs, so what? If that’s your strongest insult, I’m good. Try harder.”
In another post, Ubi questioned the impact of social media activism on governance:
“They insulted Buhari, and he ruled for eight years. Now it’s Tinubu. If online insults could remove presidents, Nigeria would have changed long ago. If you want change, join politics. Stop hiding behind tweets.”
His comments have reignited debate on political accountability, digital activism, and the growing rift between public figures and netizens in Nigeria’s political space.
