UK-Based Nigerian Woman Warns: Many Nigerian Men Suffer Due to Wives’ Financial Pressure

A UK-based Nigerian woman has sparked debate online after claiming that many Nigerian men living in the United Kingdom face serious health issues due to financial pressures from their wives.

In a video shared on social media, the woman alleged that even when couples earn similar salaries—or sometimes when the wife earns more the responsibility of running the household often falls entirely on the husband.

She explained that many women use their income for personal projects or to support relatives back home, leaving men to bear the full financial weight of the household.

Speaking from her experience as a hospital worker, she revealed that a significant number of Black men she encounters suffer from stress-related illnesses, including strokes.

“Many men, even as young as 45, are facing serious health issues because of prolonged stress. The burden is often heavier than they can carry, yet they continue to shoulder it as the ‘man of the house,’” she said.

Her comments have ignited discussions online about financial dynamics in Nigerian households abroad, mental health, and the pressures faced by men in balancing family responsibilities.
