UNILAG Student Sets New Guinness World Record for Longest Catwalk

Ololade Ayelabola, a University of Lagos student, has achieved a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance walked by a model, covering an impressive 130.62km catwalk.

Ayelabola began her attempt on October 1 at UNILAG’s indoor sports center, initially targeting 120km. She surpassed this goal and completed an additional 10km, totaling 2,058 laps.

Her achievement aims to showcase Nigeria’s creativity and fashion industry globally. Ayelabola stated, “I’m walking for many models limited by stereotypes and to showcase the Nigerian fashion industry’s creativity.”

This feat surpasses the previous record of 114.4km set by Roberta Brown and Lorraine McCourt in 1983. The record is subject to verification by Guinness World Records.
