Venezuela’s Maduro Pleads for Peace as U.S. Military Escalates Operations

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has called for peace and urged against what he described as a “crazy war” following U.S. President Donald Trump’s authorization of covert military action against the South American nation.

The United States recently intensified its anti-narcotics campaign in the Caribbean and Pacific, deploying stealth warplanes and naval ships.

Although Washington claims the operation targets drug traffickers, it has not provided evidence linking the destroyed vessels to drug smuggling.

President Trump, speaking to reporters, denied sending B-1B bombers to Venezuela but maintained a tough stance, asserting that the U.S. would “kill people who come into our country.”

The strikes, which began in early September, have reportedly killed at least 37 people. The campaign has raised regional tensions, with Maduro accusing the U.S. of seeking regime change.

Venezuela’s defense minister, Vladimir Padrino, warned that any CIA operations on Venezuelan soil would fail as military exercises intensified along the nation’s coast.
