Waje Opens Up About Being Overlooked for Her Contribution to Psquare’s Hit Song

Nigerian singer Aituaje Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, recently shared her experience of feeling overlooked in the music industry during an appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast.

The singer, who is also a mother, revealed that she contributed vocals to Psquare’s 2007 hit “Do Me, I Do You.”

Despite her involvement, Waje said she received neither public acknowledgment nor compensation for her work on the track.

Reflecting on the emotional impact, Waje recounted walking through Onitsha Market while the song played on speakers. When she told vendors she had sung the track, many responded indifferently, asking, “Who are you?”

She also discussed the broader challenges she faced as a female artist navigating the music industry, emphasizing the struggle for recognition and fairness in collaborative projects.
