Waje Reveals She Was Unpaid for P-Square’s Hit ‘Do Me’

Nigerian singer Waje has revealed that she was never compensated for her contribution to P-Square’s 2007 hit single “Do Me.”

Speaking on the HonestBunch Podcast, Waje shared insights into her early struggles in the music industry, noting that the collaboration, which brought her voice national recognition, came without financial reward or formal acknowledgment.

“I didn’t earn a dime from P-Square’s Do Me,” she recalled, reflecting on the experience with a mix of humor and nostalgia.

The song, featured on P-Square’s Game Over album, became a defining hit of the late 2000s, with Waje’s soulful vocals playing a crucial role in its success.

Waje also spoke about the challenges of gaining public recognition. She shared how people often doubted she was the female voice behind the track:

“Imagine being in Onitsha market and telling people that’s my voice every time Do Me is played, and they look at you like, ‘Who are you?’ They didn’t believe me,” she said.
