“Was the Presidency Prescribed by a Doctor?” – Wike’s Aide Lere Olayinka Mocks Atiku Over Relentless Presidential Ambition

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a public swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning his persistent quest for Nigeria’s presidency.

Speaking on Channels Television’s flagship program Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Olayinka mocked Atiku’s political decisions, particularly his recent resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The former vice president cited a lack of direction within the party as his reason for leaving a move that has sparked intense reactions within Nigeria’s political landscape.

“The only thing that interests Atiku Abubakar is to become Nigeria’s President,” Olayinka remarked.
“I’m beginning to wonder whether a doctor prescribed the presidency for him, and if he doesn’t become president, something will happen to him.”

Olayinka’s comments reflect a broader wave of criticism following Atiku’s repeated presidential bids. The former vice president has contested for the nation’s highest office multiple times since 1993, without success. His recent departure from the PDP, a party he helped build, has fueled speculation about his next political move and potential alignment with emerging third-force parties.

This latest political development comes amid rising tension in Nigeria’s opposition space, with key players including Wike and Atiku often finding themselves on opposing sides of national debates.
