“We were robbed” — Fans recount chaos at Davido’s Enugu concert
Davido’s Enugu concert at Michael Okpara Square ended in chaos on Saturday night as several fans alleged that they were robbed, harassed, and left in unsafe conditions due to poor security.
The concert, part of Davido’s ongoing “5ive Tour,” reportedly attracted a crowd far beyond the venue’s 20,000 capacity. Eyewitnesses claimed that the gates were forced open and that many people without tickets gained entry, leading to overcrowding and disorder.
Some attendees took to social media to share their distressing experiences. One user said that touts broke in and stole valuables such as phones, wigs, and money from concertgoers. She also alleged that the security presence was weak throughout the event.
Another fan recounted disturbing moments of harassment, claiming that women were groped in the packed crowd as people fought for space. Several people also complained that Davido did not perform until about 3 a.m., nearly 12 hours after the scheduled start time.
The situation has sparked outrage online, with many fans calling for accountability and better organization from the event planners. Social media users criticised the lack of crowd control and described the concert as a “total failure of security.”
A viral TikTok video showed a tearful attendee who said she lost her phone, wig, and shoes during the stampede-like chaos. Others echoed similar stories of theft, confusion, and fear throughout the night.
Online users have since demanded an official response from the organisers, insisting that future shows must prioritise the safety and comfort of fans.
