We’re Fixing Problems Tinubu Inherited – Wike Assures FCT Residents

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of Abuja that more developmental projects are underway, despite the numerous challenges inherited by the current administration.

Speaking during his monthly media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike emphasised that President Bola Tinubu’s government inherited a host of longstanding issues, but was committed to addressing them systematically.

“Having commissioned projects does not mean that our work has ended,” Wike said. “Those ceremonies were in celebration of President Tinubu’s second year in office. The work continues and there’s much more to be done.”

The Minister highlighted several ongoing projects aimed at improving infrastructure and services in the FCT.

These include major road constructions such as the Pai to Gomani road, the Deidei road, the Kasana road serving the Renewed Hope Agenda housing estate, and judicial infrastructure like the Court of Appeal division and the Justices’ quarters of the Federal High Court.

Other ongoing projects include the continuation of the N5 and N20 roads, the ‘Lit Up Abuja’ initiative, and widespread school rehabilitation efforts.

“Abuja turns 50 next February a jubilee year and we’re preparing for it. The work is endless,” he noted, adding that he hasn’t taken a break since the 16-day commissioning exercise.

Wike defended the administration’s pace of development, saying, “This government inherited so many problems. You can’t expect us to fix in two years what was neglected for over a decade. That’s just not realistic.”

He reiterated his commitment to non-stop work and delivering impactful projects that would uplift the lives of residents across the FCT.
