Who Owns the Abuja Land Wike Visited? Meet Retired Naval Chief Awwal Zubairu Gambo
The Abuja property recently visited by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike belongs to Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, the retired Chief of Naval Staff, whose image has now surfaced online, drawing significant attention on social media.
Vice Admiral Gambo, born on April 22, 1966, in Kano State, joined the Nigerian Navy in 1984, specializing in Underwater Warfare and Intelligence.
He served as Chief of Naval Staff from January 2021 to June 2023, holding critical positions such as Director of Procurement at the Defence Space Administration and Commander of the Directorate of Naval Intelligence Annex.
Beyond his military career, Gambo is highly accomplished academically, holding a PhD and a Master’s degree in Transport Management from Ladoke Akintola University. He is also a fellow of several professional organizations in management, shipping, safety, and diplomacy.
During his tenure, he achieved major milestones, including reducing piracy incidents in the Gulf of Guinea, and received prestigious awards such as the ECOMOG Peacekeeping Medal and the Admiralty Medal.
