WHO to Launch Health Emergency Appeal 2025 on January 16, Addressing Global Health Crises

As of January 14, 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) is set to unveil its Health Emergency Appeal for 2025 on January 16.

The appeal aims to address critical health emergencies worldwide, identifying priorities and necessary resources to respond effectively to various crises that are currently affecting millions globally.

The launch event will be live-streamed from WHO’s official channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and X, at 15:00–16:00 CET (Geneva time). The appeal comes at a time when the world faces unprecedented health challenges due to conflict, climate change, epidemics, and displacement.

According to the WHO, approximately 305 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, underscoring the immense pressure on health systems and communities around the globe. The 2025 Health Emergency Appeal identifies critical priorities and resources required to tackle 42 ongoing health emergencies, including 17 Grade 3 crises, which represent the most severe situations.

WHO emphasizes that health is at the core of every emergency response, from delivering life-saving care and essential medicines to conducting disease surveillance and supporting local health systems.

Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO’s Director-General, has called for a coordinated global response to save lives and restore hope in communities facing collapse.
