“Why North can’t speak in one voice in 2027” – Buba Galadima.
Buba Galadima, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), recently expressed his view that it would be impossible for the entire northern region of Nigeria to unite behind a single candidate for the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
In an interview with Sun, Galadima, who previously served as the National Secretary of the now disbanded Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), highlighted that in a democratic system like Nigeria’s, individuals have the freedom to make their own choices when it comes to voting.
When asked specifically whether Northerners would support either Atiku Abubakar, the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or Rabiu Kwankwaso from the NNPP, Galadima emphasized the diverse preferences of the electorate.
Galadima said,
“We are not in the church; we are not in the mosque. Why should we speak with one voice?
“That is democracy. If you bring three people together, everybody has got a different way of thinking on how to solve a certain problem”.
The NNPP chieftain also alleged that the party’s votes in the 2023 general elections were suppressed.
“NNPP is doing very well because after the elections, we discovered that our votes were suppressed. Over five million of our votes were suppressed”.
