Wike Expresses No Regrets Over Supporting Tinubu in 2023 Elections.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated unequivocally that he has no regrets about his support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

Prior to his appointment as minister, Wike served as the governor of Rivers State for eight years with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Following his elevation to the FCT Minister role within the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, Wike publicly expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for placing his confidence in him.

While attending a thanksgiving service organized by the PDP in Ochigba, which was held in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas, Wike revealed that he faced threats for his choice to support Tinubu during the presidential race but affirmed that he would make the same decision if given the same opportunity again.

“I have no regrets, I have no apologies. If the opportunity comes I will do the same thing,” he declared.

In addition to addressing his political allegiance, Wike responded to accusations of land grabbing directed against him by certain Abuja residents.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to the law and stated that individuals occupying government lands must comply with regulations, warning that failure to do so could result in the revocation of their land plots.

Wike dismissed the land grabbing allegations as nonsensical, asserting, “I am in charge of lands in Abuja; how will I go and grab what I am in charge of?”

He further acknowledged President Tinubu, stating that the opportunities provided by the administration have helped him understand the complexities of governance, particularly dealing with diverse Nigerians at the federal level.

“I can assure you, no matter the cry you cry, no matter the propaganda you carry, if you like give me any name you want to give me, the right thing must be done,” he added.
