Wizkid and Davido Shine at 2025 NAACP Image Awards, Taking Home Major Honors

Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Davido were among the big winners at the 56th NAACP Image Awards, held on February 22, 2025, at the Pasadena Civic Center in California.

Wizkid took home the award for Best Contemporary Duo or Group for his single Piece of My Heart, featuring Brent Faiyaz.

Davido won the Outstanding International Song award for his collaboration with Chris Brown on “Hmmm”.

This marks Wizkid’s sixth NAACP Image Award, making him the most awarded Nigerian artist in the history of the awards.

For Davido, this is his third NAACP Image Award, and his second collaboration with Chris Brown to win, after Sensational won Best Contemporary Duo in 2024.

The NAACP Image Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and representations of people of color in motion pictures, television, music, and literature.

The theme for the 2025 edition was “\Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence emphasizing diversity in the entertainment industry. The award ceremony was broadcast live on BET and CBS.
