Woman Shares Harrowing Story of Pain and Awareness While in Coma
A woman who recently emerged from a medically induced coma has opened up about the startling sensations she experienced while unconscious.
In a TikTok video, @dorothytuash recounted how, despite her body being unresponsive, she felt her soul remained aware and could hear conversations around her without being able to respond.
She described feeling intense pain during the period, particularly from multiple IVs, but being unable to react. “When I tell you that being in a coma is one of the worst things you can ever experience, do not recommend it.
I could hear people talking about me, and it was enough to traumatize a human being,” she said. “I had like 10 IVs in my arm, and when they turned me over, I felt it and was screaming inside. Every time they squeezed my arms, I felt like I was dying a little inside.”
The woman explained that the coma was necessary after she suffered septic shock, allowing doctors to administer intensive treatments.
She revealed that she would sometimes regain partial consciousness, panic internally, and then black out again, crying because she understood what was happening but had no way of communicating with the medical team.
Her story sheds light on the terrifying reality of being aware during a coma, offering a rare glimpse into an experience few survive to recount.
