Yemi Solade Admits to Slapping Afeez Owo, Begs for Forgiveness After 20 Years

Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has finally broken his silence and offered a sincere public apology to colleague and filmmaker Afeez Abiodun (Afeez Owo) over a physical altercation that happened over two decades ago during a film production.

Speaking on Behind the Fame African A-List, Solade opened up about the long-buried incident, which took place on a movie set near Ibadan. At the time, Afeez was the production manager on set.

According to Solade, after the shoot ended and the location was thrown into darkness due to a power outage, he became frustrated.

Feeling ignored by Afeez amid the chaos, he lost his temper and slapped him in a moment he now deeply regrets.

“Let me apologise to Afeez Abiodun. I slapped him once. He was the production manager, and I was upset over how things were handled. That slap came out of frustration and it’s haunted me since,” Solade confessed.

He added that Afeez quietly left the set the following morning, never addressing the incident. The weight of that memory has lingered with Solade for years.

“Afeez, I’m truly sorry. Please don’t hold it against me. It’s been nearly 20 years. I don’t like insults, and I think that’s my weakness,” he added emotionally.

The actor’s unexpected gesture has sparked reactions online, with many commending him for owning up to his mistake after so many years and choosing humility over ego.
