Yemi Solade Claims No Nigerian Actress Bought G-Wagon From Acting Income
Veteran Nollywood actor, Yemi Solade, has sparked conversations online with his assertion that no Nigerian actress has been able to purchase a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon strictly from acting earnings.
Speaking during a recent interview, Solade argued that the Nigerian film industry does not generate enough income to fund such luxury purchases. He maintained that actresses who own G-Wagons must have alternative sources of income outside acting.
In his words:
“No actress can say she bought her G-Wagon from the money made from acting because how much do they earn?”
His comments quickly drew reactions from Nigerians across social media.
One user, @klintzeal_mix, suggested:
“Probably they invested the little money they were earning.”
Another, @orobo4sure, asked:
“Wahala… how are they making their money then?”
@TkakaBariga countered:
“I know a few of them that can easily boast of buying a G-Wagon from acting—Funke Akindele and co, for example.”
However, @PabloVenz0 pointed out a distinction:
“Everybody mentioning Funke Akindele lol. The man said make money from acting, not producing. Besides, Funke has plenty of investments apart from acting.”
For some, the remarks were met with sarcasm. @SarahAkinyemi7 quipped:
“Wumi Toriola can say she bought herself a private jet from acting because she acts wonders.”
The debate continues as Solade’s statement reignites long-standing questions about the financial realities of Nollywood and how its stars fund their extravagant lifestyles.
