Yul Edochie Faces Backlash Over Tribute to Late WWE Legend Hulk Hogan

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has come under intense criticism after sharing an emotional tribute to late WWE icon Hulk Hogan, who passed away on July 25, 2025, at age 71 from cardiac arrest.

Taking to Instagram, Yul described Hogan as a “childhood hero,” writing:

“This one pain. What a life. He was our childhood hero. Rest well, Legendary Hulk Hogan.”

However, his post was met with a wave of backlash as many fans questioned the authenticity of his mourning. Critics accused Yul of hypocrisy, pointing out past controversies including his comment in 2023, where he referred to the year his teenage son died as “the best year” of his life. Others accused him of insincerity for mourning a foreign celebrity while failing to publicly acknowledge recent losses within his own circle.

One user wrote:

“This one pain you, but the year your son died, you said it’s your best year. Don’t worry, Jagaban will fix it.”

Another added:

“You criticised people for posting tributes only after death, now here you are doing the same.”

Hulk Hogan’s death comes just weeks after his wife, Sky Daily, debunked viral rumors about his health, claiming at the time that his heart was strong following several surgeries. Despite that, he reportedly died at home in Clearwater, Florida, and was later pronounced dead at Morton Plant Hospital.

The post has since gone viral, with many fans split between defending Yul’s sentiments and calling out what they see as performative grief.
