Zamfara APC Denounces Assault on Chieftain Hon. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong condemnation of the assault on its notable member, Hon. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, which took place during a wedding fatiha in Gusau on Friday.

In a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC voiced its shock and dismay regarding the incident that transpired at the Rabi’a Jum’at Mosque, where Hon. Shinkafi was attending the nuptials of Alhaji Siddi Daki Takwas’ children.

Shinkafi revealed on Saturday night at his residence in Gusau that an attack was attempted on him during the wedding ceremony, reportedly stemming from his comments about a notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji.

The APC statement expressed, “We were horrified to witness the incident as some youths, accompanied by other agitated individuals, exhibited unbecoming behavior. Such actions are not reflective of our generally well-disciplined party members.”

The APC emphasized that, regardless of any personal grievances the youths may have had, resorting to violence is intolerable.

“Our party provides structured channels for addressing any concerns or issues that members may face. The appropriate response would have been to utilize these channels instead of resorting to violence.

“Reaffirming its dedication to safeguarding its members, the party stated, “As a responsible organization, we will implement necessary measures to ensure the safety and respect of our members, from the grassroots to the leadership levels.”

The APC reiterated that its reconciliation efforts, aimed at promoting peaceful conflict resolution, extend not only to its party members but also to those from opposing parties.

“We emphasize that aggressive actions, particularly against members of other political affiliations, will not be tolerated,” the statement continued.

The party called upon the youth to refrain from such conduct and to address any grievances through the proper avenues.

“We urge our youth to avoid violent actions and to express any concerns through established party procedures.”The APC pledged to take firm action against those responsible for the attack.
