Zamfara Vigilantes Eliminate Notorious Bandit Leaders Kacalla Maijikka and Me Dada in Bold Operation

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against banditry in northern Nigeria, local vigilante groups in Zamfara State have successfully neutralized two of the region’s most feared bandit commanders Kacalla Maijikka and Me Dada bringing a wave of relief to the terror-stricken communities.

According to reliable sources and confirmation from the Zamfara State Police Command, the operation was carried out on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in Garagi village, located in the Mayanchi district of Maru Local Government Area.

The vigilantes launched a strategic ambush based on intelligence reports detailing the whereabouts of the notorious criminals. During the encounter, Me Dada, a ruthless commander infamous for orchestrating kidnappings and deadly raids across several villages, was killed instantly. His head was taken by the operatives as evidence of the mission’s success.

Kacalla Maijikka, another feared figure in the region, was also reportedly killed in the same operation. Maijikka was well-known for his cold-blooded methods—often extorting huge ransoms from families and still executing hostages despite payments being made.

This vigilante-led effort marks one of the most decisive community security actions in recent times. The killings have been widely welcomed by residents, who have endured years of terror, displacement, and grief at the hands of armed criminal gangs.

A resident of the area, speaking anonymously, expressed hope that the fall of the two men would mark the beginning of lasting peace in Zamfara’s troubled communities.

“I’m aware that the two bandits were eliminated,” he said, without providing further operational details.
