Zulum Rewards Anambra Nurse with House for 24 Years of Dedicated Service in Borno

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has honored Mrs. Marbel Ijeoma Duaka, a nurse from Anambra State, with a fully furnished two-bedroom house in appreciation of her remarkable dedication and decades of service to the people of Borno.

The presentation took place in Mafa Local Government Area on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, where Governor Zulum praised Mrs. Duaka’s exceptional courage and loyalty. Despite being a non-indigene, she remained in Mafa and continued providing essential healthcare services even during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency, when many others fled for safety.

“She has served at the Mafa Primary Healthcare Centre for more than 24 years without leaving her post, not even for a single month,” the governor said. “During the most difficult times of insecurity, while many people ran for their lives, she stayed and continued caring for her community.”

Governor Zulum also shared that Mrs. Duaka’s dedication had personally impacted his own family, saying, “She has treated most of my family members, including my mother.”

As an additional gesture of appreciation, the governor announced an automatic employment offer for Mrs. Duaka’s son, Anthony, a graduate of Banking and Finance, at Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri. He described the reward as a token of gratitude for the nurse’s steadfastness and her family’s contribution to the well-being of Borno residents.
