Actor John Dumelo Secures Parliamentary Seat in Ghana’s Ayawaso West Wuogon

Renowned Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has claimed victory in the parliamentary election for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

The election results were reported on December 9, 2024, following the general elections held on December 7, 2024.

Dumelo, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), outperformed the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), receiving a total of 40,561 votes compared to Alhassan’s 27,377 votes.

This marks a significant turnaround for Dumelo, who previously lost to Alhassan in the 2020 elections. Since beginning his acting career in 1991 while still in school, he has featured in numerous films across both Gollywood and Nollywood.
