Montgomery, Alabama – Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone, a pioneering figure in the neo-soul movement and hip-hop, tragically passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 63.

The accident occurred when the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van she was traveling in overturned on Interstate 65 and was struck by a truck. Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Angie Stone began her music career in the late 1970s as a member of the all-female hip-hop group The Sequence, known for their groundbreaking single Funk You Up.

She later joined the R&B collective Vertical Hold before launching a successful solo career. Her solo work, particularly albums like Mahogany Soul and The Art of Love & War, solidified her position as a leading voice in neo-soul.

Stone’s music resonated across generations, with hits like No More Rain (In This Cloud) and Wish I Didn’t Miss You.
